The Northern Territory Government and Opposition have held talks with the head of Garuda over the future of the airline’s Darwin to Bali route.
Tourism Minister Chris Burns says the airline has given an informal undertaking to restore the Denpasar service in the future.
He says it is not yet clear if the service will be the same.
“They’re looking at how routes can join up, how they can hub into Asia and basically where the Darwin Denpasar route fits into that, so they’re undergoing some major work,” he said.
“The new CEO, Mr Satar, has turned Garuda into a profit-making situation over the past three years and he’s very focused on that continuing.”
