Bali calls to alleged Telstra thief

A TEENAGER who allegedly stole $100,000 of Telstra copper cabling in Cairns and the Gold Coast, and took a break from his bail conditions to holiday in Bali, has appeared in Cairns Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Adrian James Campbell, 19, of Shepparton, Victoria, was arrested in Cairns last night and faces 15 charges including fraud, stealing and receiving tainted property.

The new charges are in addition to 19 previous charges for similar offences.

He also faces similar charges relating to alleged offences in Wodonga, Victoria.

In court this morning, Campbell was refused bail, with police arguing he was a flight risk.

His case was adjourned until September 22.

Earlier this month, Campbell was granted permission in Wodonga Magistrates’ Court to have part of his bail conditions suspended so he could take a holiday in Bali, The Border Mail reported.
